The State Department of Education is planning to seek flexibility (waiver) with regard to its science assessment for 2017-18. The plan is described in the attached one-pager and available online athttp://www.sde.ct.gov/sde/lib/sde/pdf/science_flexibility_request_public_comment.pdf.  The proposed approach will reduce testing time for students and teachers in Grades 5 and 8 and encourage schools to transition to the new science standards.
