The BOE held an emergency meeting tonight to discuss the possible impact of the education budget being put forth by the comptroller. The BOE budget called for a 4.47% increase. The comptroller is advocating for a 1.1% increase. That is not enough to fund the district at current levels. As a result, 3 scenarios are being considered. 1) Close an unnamed school; 2) Close different unnamed school; 3) Close both schools.
How to stop this? Show up to a Board of Finance meeting at 6 PM on April 20 at City Hall and/or write to Board of Finance and City Council members. Tell them to fully fund the schools.
