As every Bristol teacher knows, the district has experienced a chronic substitute shortage for several years, for a variety of reasons. This inability to attract and retain quality substitutes (and sometimes just warm bodies) has led to the cancellation of professional development workshops, support staff being placed into classrooms (to cover classroom teachers), and sometime resulted in classes being canceled.
The talk of Bristol utilizing Kelly Services made it one step closer to fruition this week when a representative from that company made a presentation to the BOE. The board will examine the proposal and make a decision before the start of the 2015-16 school year.
