For several days now bits and pieces of the Governor’s education proposals have trickled out. Today, all was revealed during his state of the state address.
Here are the major education components:
BUDGET
For Bristol, his proposed changes to Educational Costs Sharing (ECS) would mean an addition $1.39 million for our schools next year. Full details of the education budget can be found here.
REFORM
A side by side comparison of the current tenure system and what he proposes can be found here.

Remember – we only have 90 days to get this right. Once this legislative session ends, the changes made could effect teachers for decades. Stay aware and stay active!
get active folks….time is ticking and i see alot of you just acting as if this is no big deal…it is!! If collective bargaining or the 5-year renewable contracts get put into law…..union is crushed and we will all end up like the employees who work for the greedy private sector corporations……work hard your entire life but once you turn 50….goodbye….you are too old and make too much $$….hire the kid with no experience for a 1/4 of the cost and wow…our budget looks great! That is the dirty little secret that the 5-year renewable contract is all about…..why do you think all superindendents are encouraging it? Makes it easy once budget time comes around…..just don’t renew the old teacher’s contract and hire a baby face for 1/4 of the cost!!….no joke…this is exactly what the private sector does…and they do it to great workers who are just a little too old and and making a little too much! Act now!!
Its good to hear we are able to hear and read this stories finally. I have always been on the outside and would like to hear more of whats going on in education.
